Monday Team League Rules

MATCH RULES

1.        All frames in the League and both the KO Cup and Plate competitions will be played in accordance with the ‘Official Rules of Snooker’ as published by the WPBSA and IBSF. The only exception is that we will play the 3 Miss Rule rather than the official ‘Foul and a Miss’ rule which will not be played.

1.1 Match tables should be brushed and Ironed in preparation for the match.

1.2 It is the responsibility of the home team to referee all frames in a match.  We do recognise that this might not always be possible, therefore the following options are acceptable:

a) A member of the opposition team.

b) A non-playing club member.

c) The frame to be self-officiated by the players themselves.

1.3        The scoreboard is the sole responsibility of the referee, any errors made cannot be rectified once a frame has finished.

1.4        The referee’s decision is final and should always be respected by the players.

2.        Teams will consist of either 3, 4, 5 or 6 players for any league match.

2.1        Teams who can only field 2 players shall concede the two frames to their opponents.

2.2        All players should have an NBSA handicap.

2.3        Any player(s) without an NBSA handicap can play without penalty, but must be named by the Captain before the match starts. The player will play on scratch, with a handicap to be assigned before the next fixture.

2.4        No player can play for more than one club in any season. Penalty – frames played awarded to non-offending team.

2.5        No player is allowed to play for more than one team on the same night. Penalty – frames played awarded to non-offending team.

2.6        A player has the freedom to play for any team from the same club subject to the following restriction:

             a) Once a player has played for a team from the same club in the KO Cup or Plate they will be tied to that team for the remainder of the KO / Plate competition. Penalty – frames played awarded to non-offending team.

2.7        Main tour professionals are ineligible to play in the Monday team league. Penalty – frames played awarded to non-offending team.

2.8        Any player serving an NBSA ban or Suspension is ineligible to play in the Monday team league. Penalty – frames played awarded to non-offending team.

3.        All League matches will consist of 6 singles frames.

3.1        All frames in the league will be played according to NBSA Handicaps.

3.2        Players can play in any order regardless of NBSA Handicap.

3.3        Any frames not completed on the night for reasons other than player absence will be recorded on the team-sheet as a no-result and will not be included in the final score-line.

3.4        No player shall play more than 2 frames in a match. Penalty – any extra frame(s) contested by a player will be awarded to the non-offending player.  If both players are at fault then a no-result will be recorded.

3.5        10/10 Rule: at single table venues any frame starting after 10pm shall be contested only using 10 reds.

4.        All KO Cup and KO Plate matches will consist of 5 singles frames.

4.1        Teams will consist of either 3, 4, or 5 players for any KO Cup or Plate match.

4.2        Players can play in any order regardless of NBSA Handicap.

4.3        Any frames not completed on the night for reasons other than player absence will be recorded on the team-sheet as a no-result and will not be included in the final score-line.

4.4        No player shall play more than 2 frames in a match. Penalty – any extra frame(s) contested by a player will be awarded to the non-offending player. If both players are at fault then a no-result will be recorded.

4.5        If a match is drawn due to a frame being recorded as a no-result (rule 4.3) or because both players are at fault of breaking (rule 4.4) then the tie will be decided by a toss of a coin.

4.6        All frames will be handicapped using each players individual NBSA handicap.

4.7        Any player(s) without an NBSA handicap can play without penalty, but must be named by the Captain before the match starts.  Any player(s) used without an NBSA handicap will be classed as a scratch player for handicapping purposes (see rule 4.6)

4.8        Teams who have less than 3 players available shall concede the match 5-0 to their opponents.

5.        All matches in the League and both the KO Cup and Plate competitions will start at 7:30pm.

5.1        Both teams should have at least 2 players available to start at 7:30pm, any players not available to play when required to do so will forfeit their frame(s) to the non-offending team with the exception of rule 5.2.

5.2        Teams will allow 20 minutes for at least 2 players to show, if no show by 7.50pm then one of the frames shall be claimed by the non-offending team.  At 8pm a second frame shall be claimed.  If by 8:15pm a team has not arrived then the match shall be claimed by the non-offending team and 2 point penalty (if a league match) will be incurred by the offending team.

6.        No postponements are allowed except in extreme circumstances (eg. Severe weather, floods, power failure).  Any other reason will be the decision of the League Secretary.

6.2        Any team that is unable to field a team (less than 3 players) should contact and inform the opposition Captain and League Secretary no later than 6:30pm on the day of the match to avoid a points deduction penalty.

6.3        Failure to inform the opposition Captain and League Secretary before 6:30pm on the day of the match will see the offending team deducted 2 points.

7.        The home team will provide the score-sheet and write their players down in order of play (at 1 table venues this will be frames 1-6, at 2 table venues this will be frames 1-3 for each table).  This will not be shown to the away Captain until he has submitted his order of play for the 6 frames (blind draw).

7.1        All frames shall be played as in the running order of the score-sheet. (Please ensure that should you have a player turning up late that you list them further down the playing order to avoid falling foul of rule 5.1).        

7.2        It is the duty of both Captains to check and agree that the score-sheet is correct before play starts and at the end of the match. Once both Captains agree that the final score-sheet is correct the result is final. Any Handicap oversights cannot be rectified once this has been agreed.

7.3        Only the League Secretary can alter a result after submission in regards to the following rules: Rule 2.1, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 3.3, 3.4, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5 and 4.8.

POST MATCH RULES

8.        It is the duty of the home team to submit the result within 48 hours of the match being played.

8.1        When submitting the result either via the website/text/email/phone it must include the overall score-line, the full names of all players involved in the match and each of the frame scores.

8.2         Any complaints regarding a match must be submitted in writing to the League Secretary within 7 days of the match.

8.3        Anybody who played a match without an NBSA Handicap will be issued with their NBSA Handicap in time for the next fixture.

9.        Two points will be awarded for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss.

9.1        League position will be decided in order of the following importance.

        1) Points Gained (2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie)

        2) Frame Difference

        3) Head to head aggregate score

        4) Play-off – please note this will only be used to decide the following: Championship / Runner-up /  Relegation (Any play-off matches will be played at a neutral venue).

9.2        All League Fixtures / Tables / Player Standings / High Breaks / Cup draws / Announcements will be published at https://nbsa.uk

OTHER RULES

10.        The entrance fee for each team for the season is £40. This must be paid by the deadline set out by the NBSA Committee.

10.1        Payment can be made online at https://nbsa.uk/join.  Alternatively payments are accepted at Bulwell Church Institute and Spot On Sneinton.  You can also pay cash to any NBSA Committee Member.

10.2        Receipts and Invoices can be obtained from the League Secretary.

10.3        Failure to meet the deadline for payment as set out by the NBSA Committee will see the offending team scratched from the league and cup competitions.

10.4        The NBSA Committee reserves the right to offer reductions to the entry fee or offers to attract new teams to the league.

10.5        A full breakdown of all payments / costs will be issued by the NBSA Treasurer at the A.G.M.

10.6        Any new teams joining the league must play within the Nottinghamshire County boundary (not Postcode) as outlined in the NBSA constitution.

10.7        The NBSA reserves the right to decline entry into any of our competitions.

10.8        The NBSA reserves the right to issue disciplinary bans or suspensions to any player within the Monday league subject to a hearing at the players request as outlined in the NBSA Constitution.

10.9        In-season transfers of players between clubs must be made in writing to the NBSA Committee for consideration.

11.        All rules must be passed by the NBSA Membership and Team Captains present at the A.G.M. or at an E.G.M.

11.1        The League Secretary reserves the right to add any provisional rules or penalties required in-season.  These provisional rulings will be discussed and voted on by the NBSA membership and Team Captains at the earliest opportunity such as a NBSA members meeting.
